Although there was rumors about the possible delay of the One UI 5.0 Beta 2 updateSamsung has ended the third beta update for the Galaxy S22 series released last night. Since this is the third beta update, one would be inclined to think that it would bring mostly bug fixes and minor feature additions. However, Samsung has added some important new features.

The latest One UI 5.0 beta update for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+and the Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with firmware version ending ZVI9. The update is rolling out in Europe and the UK, and includes the September 2022 security patch.

New Features in One UI 5.0 Beta 3

The new update brings the biggest redesign to the wallpapers department over the past few years. Samsung seems to take great inspiration from it Apple’s iOS 16. You can directly long press the lock screen to change the wallpaper or edit lock screen widgets. You can either choose a single wallpaper or use a set of backgrounds. You can also change the lock screen shortcuts, add contact information, add a clock and date widget and notifications.

You can further customize the lock screen clock widget with six fonts, five styles and ten preset font colors (five solid colors and five gradients). You can even choose a custom solid color or gradient from the color swatch or spectrum. You can even set the clock widget to automatically adjust according to the wallpaper color (dark or light). For the notification view, you can choose either icons only or notification icons with details. You can even set its transparency level and text color. There’s also a new smooth animation effect when the phone switches to and from Always On Display mode. Samsung also categorized wallpapers (colors, gallery and graphics) in iOS 16 style.

Samsung has also tweaked the UI design of the fingerprint registration process. There is a green ring around the fingerprint registration area for better focus. The color palette has also been applied to the Stories section in the Gallery app, and the entire section is now more immersive. With the new software, you can turn off the Auto-Optimize feature in the Device Care app. Samsung also fixed the problem with animations and transitions, and it looks much smoother now.
